Hi,
I've just purchased a victorian house built in 1880. I'm renovating the bedroom and when I removed the fitted wardrobe I revealed a crack running throughout the wall, as I had decided to re-plaster anyway I have removed the plaster and exposed the brick wall.
The picture below shows the crack, about 4/5mm of movement. The wall separates my house from the next one, to the right there is an external wall, to the left a fireplace. I have no idea how long that crack has been there, shall I just re-point the mortar and reinforcing steel wire or call a structural engineer?
Thanks
