I have put a new metal back box into my wall but the plaster as come away. Any ideas how to fix this problem?

unscrew the deco' front plate from the back box.
remove the loose plaster material.
carefully apply some diluted pva to the exposed plaster using a small paint brush.
apply a little bonding (backing coat) then apply some finishing plaster (skim) to the bonding.
you could probably get a good enough finish by using just skim.
