Hi
My wife has a fiat doblo which hardly gets used. It ahs been standing for about 6-8 weeks.
The last time she drove the van it was fine.
This week she purchased a new battery as the old one was flat.
When she turns the ignition on and turns the key it then goes dead, ie it does not turn the engine over.
First, I tried to jump start it with jump leads but nothing?
Then, we towed the van for half a mile in second gear with the ignition light on but also nothing?
Does anyone know or give we some guggestions to what the problem can be.
Kind Regards
Paul :)

When you turn the key to start it do the panel lights go out?

Try a jump start from another vehicle, and keep its engine running......use some quality jump leads and make sure the clips grasp the battery terminals tightly.
The fact that the dash lamps go out usually indicates that the limited power the battery has is going to the starter.

...or there is a poor connection on the battery or the leads from it.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies.

I will check the battery connections later when I finish work.

We did try and start it with jump leads but did not even ignite/start?
Also we towed the van behind another van and once again didnt even turn over, it was just dead?
After being towed and parked van back on the drive there was a small amount of smoke comimg from behind the engine plastic cover ??
Thanks again
paul :)
