Hi there

I have a Diplomat double oven - bottom is a normal fan assisted oven, top is more like a grill, element in the top.

Bottom oven is fine, top oven once its been on for about 3 or 4 minutes starts to hum and it gets louder and louder if u leave it

If i turn it off, the humming stops straight away, if i open the bottom door a bit, the humming stops as well

Any idea what this might be, have had the unit for about 8 years, so could be something wearing out

many thanks

Hi there

If i push on the left hand side of the plate thats in front of the grill element in the top oven - the noise reduces.

If i push in the same area but on the front part above the plate but below the row of air holes, the noise stops completely.

But i have tried tightening every screw and it has made no difference????

Is it new, ie under warranty?
If its out of warranty, remove the part gently bend it, then replace it.
Its a common problem

which part though, as i am not sure what is causing it?

no its out of warranty

If when you press a part it stops then that part.
You could try & use a wooden peg as a wedge & find out what panel it is.
Generally it will be the element & you cannot do anything with that, it could also be the element vibrating within the element support.
(For many years I worked in domestic appliance development,)

Diplomat was the cheap-o-matic brand of appliances sold or given 'free' with MFI kitchens, so any warranty will have expired long ago.
