Currently have wall to wall wardrobe with slidinf doors. They look tatty now and dont utilise enough space. I want to construct some carcasses and wardrobe doors on hinges to replace the exsisting white melamine and sliding doors. I also want to fit our bed in the middle with overhead storage.

What is the best way to secure each carcass to a solid wall and to each other?

So you do not need any timber batterns or some some of back panelling?

Can you screw straight through the carcass into the wall with plugs or is it best using some sort of brackets?

Thanks

Depends on your design. If you want back panelling then fit it, it's your choice

Yes. It again depends on how strong the carcass is. If it's thin hardboard then no. If you're screwing through a frame or reasonably sturdy MDF then yes, you can screw directly though and into a plug in the wall.

When I made a fitted wardrobe I constructed a frame out of cheap B&Q pine which I attached to the wall then fitted doors and door frames (for want of a better description) to the front. I didn't bother with back panels but you may think it looks better with them.
