Hi,
I'm having my bungalow extended (quite a lot) and the sparky has proposed to install 1 x heat detector and 2 x smoke detectors, hard wired to the mains and interlinked with battery backup. I've no problem with this.
I'm going to install a burglar alarm and the panel I'm most likely to use has 8 zones, 2 of which can act as 24 x 7 fire zones:

If I installed heat / smoke detectors hard wired back to this panel rather than the ones the sparky was going to install, would that meet building regs?
I am planning to install smoke detectors in every bedroom for better coverage. My only concern is that the panel is a single point of failure. It may have battery backup, but if the panel itself went pop then I'd be stuffed.
Cheers,
Nomis
