Just removed the last of a brick flue that used to serve the kitchen arga/back boiler to give me room to convert the room into a bathroom. It unveiled a secrete void that I didn't know was there but came down fairly easy. the side of the flue was tied into some lightweight blockwork as shown the forming a T to a doorway either side.
It seems solid just the brick to block joint looks a bit weird. The bricks sit about 10mm proud of the blocks.
Does this need knocking and rebuilding or is it ok to leave as it is an bond a sheet of plasterboard to the blockwork then fly a tile backer board over the entire lot to give a flat wall to finish.
