downlights - low voltage?

downlights are available in either low voltage (with transformer) or normal . Can anyone tell me what the advantage of the low voltage lights is?

Also, am i right in saying that it is necessary to use IP65s over baths and showers?

IP44 for zone 1 (over showers / baths), low voltage are safer.
