I need to remove 2 rads - 1 x first floor and 1 x ground floor in preparation for some building works.

I have tied up the ball cock in the loft, located a drain valve by the back door, opened it and the highest valve in the system. I appear to have drained all of the first floor rads.

However, the flow has stopped coming out of the drain valve and the ground floor rads are still full. I have noticed that each ground floor rad has it's own drain valve. Given this setup- Do I need to empty them all like this, or can I just empty the one which I intend to remove?

If the pipes to the downstairs rads are coming down from above just empty the one you are removing.
If the same rads are going back on, you could have just closed the valves and drained and removed the rads individually.

Thanks.

Didn't know the pipes were coming from above at the time as they are hidden in the walls, but I have now removed both.

They aren't going back on- I need to cut and cap the pipes- hence draining it down rather than closing the valves only.

you are opening the air bleeds on the rads that won't fully drain arn't you?
