After stripping bedroom walls a plasterer friend has told me they need to be skimmed prior to decorating as hanging lining paper won't be sufficient and any further wallpaper hung will, at some point just come off.

Is there anything I can apply to the walls prior to lining and wallpapering which is cheaper than having them all skimmed? Money is tight at the moment so credit crunch ideas would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Buy a sack of easyfill (£12 ish) & apply with a caulking board, easy-peasy , then cross-line with 1700 grade
