Hello,

I was wondering if anybody could explain. I've an electric fire place, an out the side of this it has a flex for the fire with the 13amp plug.
The flex can reach the fused switch, so would I be able to remove the plug and just wire the flex directly into the switch?

Any help much appreciated, Cheers! :D

Yes you can - but you will need to check what the manufacturers instructions say.
Some allow you to dismantle/cut their plugs and replace them with your own plug/FCU some don't.
The some that don't, state that your guarantee is void if you replace the plug.

With an electric fire it is advisable to have a means of isolation ( opening both Live and Neutral ) which requires either a two pole switch if permanently wired in or a plug that can be pulled out.

For a 3kw or less rated fire (13amp or less), use the MK K330-WHI DP-switched fuse-connection unit, it is robustly constructed, has an integral cord clamp (easy fit format), and comes with a maker's twenty year guarantee all for a fiver approximately.

No problem, thanks alot for your input all.

Will deffinately follow your advice.

Thanks!
