Hello

I am ashamed to say i have no idea where to start with DIY - i bought my first house recently and the oven just gave up on me..

Its a hotpoint bu72 - double electric fan oven. The grill works fine but the 2 ovens don't work at all. No fan no heat etc etc..

Not really sure where to start.. any ideas welcome! I cant afford a new one and the microwave's getting boring..

Thanks

is it set on auto ,if so set it on the clock to manual ;)

Has it ever worked?

If not, could it be that it is switched wrong? On mine the oven switch has a setting for "grill", on which the oven will not heat up.

If you haven't got the instruction book, see if you can download one from the makers (this is quite usual) or phone the previous owners and see if they seem guilty enough to have left you with a faulty oven.

If times are hard, second-hand ovens can be surprisingly cheap, as people often refit their kitchens and find it difficult to shift their old appliances. many end up down the tip.

p.s. my mother has one that will not go after the electricity has been cut off, until you reset the clock. i think it is to protect against starting unexpecteldy after a power cut.

ha ha!

it worked fine for a couple of months then just stopped working one day.. i will investigate the clock etc..

thanks
