We've moved into a flat and inherited a fairly recently installed Mira Vie 8.5 electric shower. It has worked fine for the past four months and suddenly decided today to stop altogether.

No fuses have blown but switching it on yields no response, let alone any water, heated or otherwise. Could it be linked to using it on maximum heat for 15 minute stretches every couple of days? Or otherwise?

If it is not the shower unit itself faulty then it could be a suspect pull switch. You really need a way of testing voltage at various locations along the circuit.
If you are in any doubt about your ability to do this safely then you need a competant electrician.

There is not an RCD hidden away in an airing cupboard somewhere is there ?
