We're planning on renovating our bathroom and looking for new shower to replace an old 8.5kw shower. I haven't checked the cable size as yet but part of a protected group (80amp RCD) and is on its own B32 MCB. Can we go for a 9 or 10kw shower, assuming the cable size it adequate, or are we limited to 7.5-8.5kw showers? thanks in advance

Depending on the cable length and installation method a 10k shower will require a 10mm cable and 45 mcb with RCD fitted. Check the Mira website for details.

With a 32A circuit, the maximum power will be 7.6kW assuming the shower is rated at 240V (most are).

pretty sure the current shower is an old Mira 8.5kw model. are we saying its to heavy and the new replacement i intend to buy should only be 7.6kw?

Yes.

However, if someone can verify the size and installation method of the cable then you may be able to increase the rating of the MCB and have a 10.5kW shower.
