Four reasons
- everything upstream of the meter belongs to NGT or SGN or someone, not you, and you are not entitled to attach to it
- The gas meter is removable and is replaced periodically. As soon as the old one is removed you would lose continuity. The pipework might be replaced or altered and plastic pipes may be used
- the meter is not intended or warranted to provide electrical continuity. The joints in the pipe will have rubber seals (or jointing paste) in them.
- you are attempting to bond everything inside your house, you are not responsible for the gas pipes in the street.
