Hi, can you help?

I have a bog standard plunger type shower mixer, it’s only six months old but I when I came to use it this morning it wouldn’t work properly. When you pull up the plunger only a trickle of water goes to the shower head, I’ve checked the pressure and that is fine.

Do I need a new mixer of can I repair it myself, if so how?

FIrst see if the hose is twisted - remove from mixer then turn mixer on.

Yes those mixers are mendable with a washer/O ring, but some of them are real crap.

thanks ChrisR, the hose is ok I checked that this morning.

When I pull up the plunger though it does feel easier than normal, one thing that has crossed my mine is that last night I did leave the shower running for some time on only hot water, could this have damaged anything?

we have a combi boiler btw.

No. Time to get your spanners out and take the valve apart!

no problem I'll do that tonight.

I'm in a hard water area (Bristol) so maybe that has caused the problem?
