Got scaffolding up for some flashing work and replacing some wood around dorma window. While I have access to it, wanted to give the felt roof a lick of acrypol to try and extend its life an extra few years (no evidence of leaks at the moment, purely a safeguard)

Firstly, should I power wash to remove moss and brush to remove gravel, acrypol then throw some gravel back on

Or leave it alone?

To what extent does this need to be clean before acrypol? Don't want to cause unnecessary damage.

Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks

What happens if you try brushing a small area? It looks to me like it's kind of moulded itself together into a homogenized gloop of felt/moss/detritus/gravel.

That is exactly what it is.
felt/moss/detritus/gravel

I've already brushed it to remove the majority of moss that was there. Want to know how much further to go before I can layer with acrypol

It looks like it was done well, its going to depend how may layers where applied.
I would advise you to leave it alone.
