Hi,
I have a 1992 1.1 Fiesta and it is not charging the battery (which is new). I have checked the wiring to find that the connections from the alternator to the starter motor were very green and when trying to remove the + terminal of the starter they disintegrated. I have cut them back to good metal but as I could not see what connected to what before disintegration I do not know how to put them back. The diagram (Haynes) says both red wires from the alternator brushes join at the + terminal of the starter, which seems odd to me as surely Ford would have only used 1 wire and doing this means it will not turn over. It starts fine with the alternator wires disconnected.
Thanks, hope someone can help.
