Filter Washer for Mixer Tap - is it needed?

Hi All,

I am fitting a mixer tap, it comes with two filter washers. Do i need to fit these?(our supply is a condensing combi) I can't see where they will fit other then in the 3/4 nut connecting to the tap but there is already a washer in there (flexible tap connector)
