Is there anything different about a fire alarm circuit, as per the recent building regs updates?
6amp breaker wired in 1.5 pyro cable. What positions in the house do alarms take in house?

You need to do a sounder audibility test to determine the best locations. If the local authority is asking for this, they should give you the spec. You need 75dBA in bedrooms with all doors shut. Detectors need to be in staircase enclosures at all levels and in hallways (eg between living and sleeping areas). Heat detector in kitchen. Call points at every exit point and on every level. Is this your house, flats etc?

Is this a private house, or a HMO?

Are you referring to a proper fire alarm system, or interlinked mains smoke alarms?
