Hi guys,
I have a 20 years old fireplace that has a torn thermocouple cable, and I noticed immediately when fixing it that the head is sitting outside of the firetray/coal bed in the back. The gas comes through a whole in the middle of the firetray, through rockwool etc. Is this normal for older fireplaces - and something that seems ok? I just thought that perhaps the thermocouple should always sit close to the actual gas flame?!
thanks for any help!
