I WANT TO FIT A SECURITY DOOR CHAIN TO A STEEL FACED DOMESTIC FRONT DOOR. IS THIS POSSIBLE? SHOULD THERE BE A WOOD BLOCK ON THE INSIDE TO TAKE THIS?[/b]

Normally in this situation, we drill right through the door thickness and use thin nut/bolt but I need to see the door type. Is it a wooden door with a metal plate cover?

thanks for the reply. the door is a modern one used by a lot of major house builders it looks like an ordinary timber door bot the skin is metal.

Okay then, make sure the nuts are inside the door area perventing anyone undoing them and on the front you could cover it with many type of door plate or known as finger plate.
