Frames are good and I like the current style of my windows. Rather than replacing I thought of renovating and fitting double glazed glass. The only prob I can see is that the resess may dot be deep enough. Any thoughts about whether or not I can deepen it or any other solution ? If I were to deepen it I'm not sure how I would do it - I'd presumably have to take some off the moulding ?

You might be able to get 16mm units in the casement and not thicker ones - in which case they may need to be argon filled to meet current b/regs

Its not really practical to mess about trying to widen the rebate - it just becomes a bodge
