I have a flat roof which is not insulated. I would like to get the roof space insulated and as I don't know the age of the roof I have decided that it might be a good idea to have the roof replaced with a new one and insulated. That way I will get a 15 year guarantee on the work.
I have had a guy come out to give me a quote. He has looked at the existing roof and reckons that there is nothing wrong with it and suggested rather than take it up that it might be a better idea to lay 120mm insulation board on top of the roof and then felt etc over that. In effect a roof on top of a roof. He has told me that I will still get a 15 year guarantee for the work.
Can anybody offer any advice as to the merits (or not) of this approach or suggest an alternative.
