Flat roof options

We have recently moved and the kitchen extension (maybe 25 square metres) has a grp flat roof which has started to leak. This was repaired, apparently, within the last 12 months. But if I look at it from the bedroom window the surface looks blistered and there are a couple of large puddles which take ages to drain. The flashing is sealed with shrivelled silicone. It does look a dog's dinner. After receiving a quote of nearly £3000 to repair it, I forwarded some images to a grp company who politely suggested it was a bad job and it's probably a better bet to re-roof than to try and stick 'plasters' on it. I tend to agree with them (they have nothing to gain for suggesting this, incidentally). Probably cheaper too.

My worry is twofold. A) finding an expert, because everyone on the trade sites is an 'expert'! And grp seems more specialised than traditional felt. And b) some insight into the different flat roof options and advantages/disadvantages of those available - felt, grp, rubber, etc.

I do notice the flat roof portion of the kitchen is colder, but I guess that's to be expected. So... which is the cheapest option? Which is the warmest option? Which is the most sensible option?

Thanks for any advice offered.
