Hey! I ave a 'T' shaped house. in the internal wall where the upright of the 'T' seems to meet the horizontal, there's a floor to ceiing crack. this moves though the year, opening and closing. I did chip the plaster & render off, opened up the crack a bit and filled it, however it's now opened again floor to ceiling.

The outside brickwork is totally sound.

It's been suggested that I open the crack, chip out my filler and refil with resin based filler [ car bodywork filler or anchor bolt adhesive ] - I'm guessing for a stronger hold, however I'm concerned that this may cause the blockwork to fracture elsewhere?

Also it's been suggested that I chip off the plaster/render in places and nail stainless steel straps at 6" intervals down the crack - in the hope that movement will stop.....

Any thoughts?
