No sooner had I posted about my draughty backdoor than my front door handle broke!

I've got a UPVC door and the handle has gone floppy - it is very difficult to get the door to shut as the lowest horizontal pin doesn't seem to be returning properly. Having watched some videos I was convinced I needed a new spring cassette - however have just removed the handle and there's no cassettes - it seems like the sprung part is inside the door.

I'm not sure whether the problem is the handle/spring - or if the issue is with a sticking pin/bolt which is causing an issue. Lock has been changed in the past 6 months.

Some pictures attached if that helps. Any advice gratefully received.

My mum's door has a similar problem. you need to remove the whole lock mechanism to look at the internal spring. It is a very low value item but might be difficult to replace unless you can work out who made the locking mechanism.

BTW to remove it, you will need to remove the key cylinder. It is held in place by one single screw. Remove the screw, put the key in, turn it slightly and the cylinder will come out. Once removed, you can unscrew the rest of the lock mechanism. Hopefully you will find a logo or similar to help you identify the maker.
