flourecent light connection

gents,

can someone please advice how to connect a flourecent tube. i have a live cable coming in from previous light and a cable coming from the switch (1 live, 1SW live, 2 neutrals & 2 earths). there are three terminal on the light LIVE, NEUTRAL & EARTH. i am pretty sure i need a JB but need a confirmation from the experts!

Have a look at the wiki / lighting / replacing a ceiling rose with....

If you have 6 wires, they are probably Live (R), Neutral (Bk), Live to switch (R), Switched live from switch (Bk marked R), and 2 earths.

Older wiring :- Bk = Black, R = Red
Newer wiring:- Bk = Blue, R = Brown

If this is the case, as in the wiki, connect the two lives together in a chock block, Neutral to neutral of fitting, switched live to live of fitting and earths to earth of fitting.
 
thanks for the reply. that makes sense - i will try that today. i can now see where i was thinking wrong.
