A friend of mine is building an extension and the foundations will cross a public sewer line. The sewer pipe is about 2.3m deep and the foundations have been dug down to the invert level of the pipe.
Shuttering was used either side of the sewer pipe, approx 150mm either side, and then the concrete poured up to the required level. Then concrete lintels bridged over the pipe so blockwork can progress.
Now, he has contacted the water company and they are saying there should be 600mm either side of the sewer pipe, not the 150mm he has done.
Anyone hear about this regulation?
Cheers
Mike
