We are planning a new bathroom including a new shower.

We currently have an old boiler with a big hot water tank in the airing cupboard and tanks in the roof. We'll likely need a new boiler in the next couple of years and are thinking a combi would be best.

Is there a shower that would work with both types of boiler with minimum work when we get the new boiler?

Thank you in advance for any advice!

A thermostatic shower mixer, suitable for low pressure supplies will work with a cylinder, and with a combi. Bear in mind if you get a combi though, that it will only practically supply one hot outlet at once, and you will have no immersion backup if the boiler goes wrong (which they do, sometimes). If you have a family you may find a cylinder more suitable.

Thanks Moggot

That's really helpful.

Interesting point on the boiler as I do have a family. We were thinking a combi as the guy from British Gas suggested a combi was a no brainer.... I think we'll have to do some research. If we decide the old boiler will be replaced like for like then a power shower with pump seems the best way to go!

:D
