Garage Conversion Literature for a Layman

Hi

Turning a garage into a bedroom (integral) can anyone recommend a book on basic regulations I need to abide by / processes to follow sort of a "dummies guide"?

EG: Raising the floor with concrete - I know I need air bricks, with insulation eg "Celotex" then "Scree" but how does it all fit in with air bricks, are these below the Celotex level to stop Scree simply covering up?...this demonstrates the poorness of my knowledge!

Any help / ideas most welcome
