Jimyboy..the link from your supply to the garage should be solid..that is unbroken from one protective device to another.

If you do not know the type of joint kit you need to join cables then you don't know how to use them correctly, and thus should not be contemplating this venture.

Are you sure that 4mm² SWA is sufficient for yopur needs regardiong the potential loading on the supply?

Do you know how to calculate the Volt drop on a given cable?

Do you have access to a Regs book or onsite Guide so that you can check the maximum current carrying capacity of a given cable and it's volt drop per ampere per meter?

If the answer to the above is Yes..do you know how to properly read and interpret the data sets in the tables?

Is this SWA two core or three core??

Are you intending to install and RCD at either end of the cable?

Do you know how to install the devices to ensure correct discrimination occurs in the event of a fault?

How much do you understand about this type of installation?

Answer those questions and perhaps you can get some advice...

You mean T&E ? I wouldn't, I'd extend the SWA; adaptable box, BW SWA glands and yellow insulated crimps

plus do i need to have a earth rod connected to the garage unit
The 'unit' would be a CU? right? and I don't know, what are the earthing arrangements on the board that supplies this submain?

You're welcome
