All the flexicoms I have worked on have a 'spark plug' type cap, presumably to eliminate what you have seen, is yours missing?

yes spark plug cap on and seems to be fitted fine, spark is coming out of the bottom side of the cap and arching onto earth wire?

at a guess the "spark plug" may have a fault!!

oh and just incase you didnt know that part is a gas train part and needs an rgi to sort it as there are specific checks required to confirm safe operation!!!
