So it's too expensive in the Champion's league says Platini !! He's happy with the five man referee system? And " technology would need to be installed in 280 stadiums " costing £54m.

What nonsence...those extra ref assistants, what do they do? i've never seen them add any value whatsoever. And we don't need extra technology, just a referral to the resident tv company who'll have hd cameras all over the ground. If they're inconclusive, then the ref's decision stands !!!

Some argue that using video replay would hold the game up, but to me, it seems to work just fine in the game of rugby. The ref is miked up and makes a sign that he wants to see video replay of a certain event. Almost instantly, he can see a replay on a giant screen, not just from one angle , but ,multiple angles. Within 30 seconds (or less) , he's made his mind up. Ref's can't always be in "just the right" position. Neither can the linesmen/ assistant referees. Video replay , is the way to go. Just imagine if video replay had been available to the ref during the 1986 World Cup Finals in Mexico? Maradonna's first goal wouldn't have stood. It could have turned the game in England's favour. Goal line technology wouldn't have picked this up. ;) ;)
