Hi there

This is a really wierd fault my friend has.

Whenever he's used the oven and turns it off all the electrics trip out apart from the oven?

But if he lets the oven cool down before turning it off their fine.

There are two seperate trip switch boxes and the ovens not on the the trip switch unit that goes off.

Any ideas?

He's had an electrician out and he says it must be the oven.

I changed the fan oven element for him but it made no difference.

.

What do you means by "all of the electrics" Everything in the house, lights and sockets in all rooms. Or just all the electrics in the kitchen.

A photo of the consumer unit showing the arrangement of MCBs and the RCD would be useful as a first step in trying to work out how the rest of the electrics can be "tripped" of while the offending oven is still left with power supplied.

Specifically does the oven have its own MCB and which MCBs are on the RCD protected side of the CU

( MCBs are the "fuses" and the RCD is the big switch with the test button )
