Help with light switch please

Hello all am new here.
Right av got a intermediate switch and I want to wire
It as a single.
Av tested with a metre and think av got it right in my head
Just need some advice in case am wrong

So av got two L1 two L2
If i wire live in to L1 then N in to
L2 in opposite side. Is this right.

Sounds ok.

As long as one wire in the top.
And one wire in the bottom

Underneath but opposite side.

NO. The neutral does not go through the switch.

Just because the wire is black (or blue) does not necessarily mean that it is a neutral.

Now, that would have been right.


A neutral is the return wire from a load which completes the circuit.
It is NOT a name for black or blue wires.

Wires can be anything we want; they do not know what colour they are.
