Hello.

I was wondering if anyone had a quick and easy method of determining the size of a rad required to heat a particular room, Without being too technical.

Lets say its a living room @ 21 degrees

I would multiply the cubic feet of the room by 5 Plus 10% for general losses, Minus 10% for double glazing etc, to give me the BTU requirements for the room. I can then select a radiator from the merchants list.

If i was to do this in all the rooms and add the figures together it would give me the BTU requirements of the boiler i would need to run the system.

My question is aimed at the more experienced plumber/Heating engineer and i ask if my method is suitable? and, Do you have any other simple methods?

I understand that the correct way involves room size, windows, outside walls, type of floor, type of building materials, U factors and a calculator but surely there must be an easier way.

I look forward to a reply...
