my son has just moved into a new flat with the kitchen door opening off the lounge. The door has to open into lounge as kitchen so small but the problem is that the door can open right back against the lounge wall and this is restricting us putting a table where we want to put it. There would be a similar problem wih furniture if we made the door open to the right rather than the left. We cannot have a door stop on the floor as it would just be marooned inthemiddle of the floor. Are there door hinges a/v that only allow the door to open 90 degrees or so? We also want to buy a door closer - are there any that are not too obtrusive? It is just a normal internal door that is causing us all this trouble, not a fire door

Most conservatory double doors have a limiting device built into the top of the door. They also, usually, have a friction adjuster to avoid the doors being blown shut or open in a high wind. A practical DIYer would have no problem in adapting and fitting one of these units to an internal domestic door and a visit to a conservatory supplier would show what is available. On the other hand, a simple limiting strap, fitted to the top of the door, would suffice. Not quite so pretty but, cheap and effective.
