Hive thermostat question again

Evening all. Fitted my Hive thermostat, no problems. All on and will work however

All I need to do now is link out the thermostat.

I will be removing the cables properly from the airing cupboard next week but just want this working.

I have now removed all wiring from the old thermostat and have wires all in wagos currently.

The grey wire on the left is connected to N (neutral)

The brown wire connects to L (live)

Black wire goes to 1 (ON)

Earth wire isn’t connected

Am I correct in saying to make this work for now either

1) wire back up and then turn temp to max

2)isolate grey neutral wire and link black wire (on) with the brown wire

I can then discard this old unit and next week trace the wiring back to airing cupboard

Yes.

All the thermostat does is join black and brown together when heat is required.
