hot cold hot cold shower !!!!!

hi , having been reading this forum for a while i have finaly signed up !!! with a problem - hope someone can offer some advice pls ?
I have a worcester 35cdi combi , fitte din 2001 , it needs a new prv as it needs topping up every few days.
My problem is the hot water is now running hot then cold then hot then cold , but the cold spells are getting longer than the hot ones - making showering in the recent cold snap interesting to say the least !!!! (i run a bristan artisan thermostatic mixer)
any ideas what the problem may be ????

I'm fairly sure that a faulty prv can cause the temperature variations, as the water flowing through the heat exchanger would not be pressurised. Get that fixed first and see if it cures your problem.
