Hot Water Problem

Last evening when I turned on the hot water tap in bathroom washbasin, it kind of burped, stuttered and finally flowed OK.

Next morning the water is only warm, not hot.
Hot water cylinder in airing cupboard is also only warm (cold at bottom few inches).
Some of the pipes in airing cupboard are cold, some warm and some very hot.

I have photos showing the pipes in the airing cupboard and can indicate which are cold/warm/hot - if this would help diagnose the problem.

No changes or adjustments have been made to the system, which has been working OK up to this point.

Boiler is gas-fired Ideal Vulcan.

If anyone can shed any light on this, it would be very much appreciated.

Happy New Year !

Mike.

1. Does the boiler light up at the time(s) that you would expect?

2. Is the heating working?

3. Do you have any motorised valves?

4. Is the F&E cistern full?

5. Do you have a thermostat on the cylinder?

It's time to see those photos methinks. Please annotate to show which pipes are hot/warm/cold.

Well, the good news is that the problem seems to have gone away

I would like to take his opportunity to thank 4-8 and Softus for offering to help - this is very much appreciated.

I only recently came across this site, and it's really a great help for folk such as me.

Thanks again

Mike.
