Hi,
I would appreciate some advice, if possible.
There is a loud banging noise coming from my hot water storage cylinder located in my bathroom cupboard. I have an open vented traditional hot water system which is oil fired by an ancient boiler (which has always sounded like a furnace and there has been no change there). I had an issue with the ballcock sticking in the feed expansion tank in my attic a few weeks ago and it was almost empty of water so I suppose air got in. I have sorted out the ballcock system now. Since then there has been a loud banging noise when the water in the cylinder gets up to temperature, which I assume is air in the storage cylinder? I do not know how to get the air out (if this even is the problem?). Does anyone have any ideas?
I have bled all the radiators which are working fine and I have hot water.
I have reached the sum total of my boiler knowledge and info from my DIY books. I am a fairly practical person, with plenty of tools and I would prefer to learn how to fix it myself.
Thank you!
Elin
