Hotpoint LFT114 Dishwasher Won't Start Programme

After 16 months untroubled operation our dishwasher has now failed. It is possible to select the programme as normal but the programme doesn't start when the door is closed. The green On light and orange Programme Indicator light are on steady on when door is re-opened, and no noises or signs of life.

I had hoped it might just be the door lock mechanism not sending a signal to the 'brain' to say that the door was closed, but replacing that part has had no effect. Suspect 'brain'?

is there water in the base of dishwasher under the filter ,does the pump run when its switched on .you might have a blocked pump.
