I need some help with my Hotpoint wd440 washer/dryer. Keeps tripping mains electric, water didn't drain away mid cycle. Managed to take off back panel and clean filter, a few coins etc, took off lid and noticed at the top right hand corner where the mains cable enters into a small black filter box it has melted. Blue wire has also melted.

Have found this part cable/filter on hotpoint site for sale. Can I just buy it and replace or is this a sign of a bigger problem that needs expert help?

Have already flooded kitchen after removing hose and not turning off water supply!

Yes just replace it. As long as the top wires are not damaged otherwise new wires are needed.
