Hotpoint WT960P noisy drum

The drum on my 6 year old Hotpoint WT960P is noisy. If I turn it by hand it grumbles and scrapes. It sounds also sounds as if a part is loose between the inner steel and outer plastic drum.

Any ideas?

Is it an easy job to remove the whole drum assembly and separate the two halves of the outer drum?
