Saunier duval made a few heaters!
Have you tried reducing the water flow ?
Mains water is colder in winter so your heater has more work to do.
Is the gas supply pipe properly sized?
Ever had it serviced?

I would go with the first post. Saunier Duval have now withdrawn from the British market and any support and parts will be close to follow.
