Hi,

My WC overflow pipe on the ground floor has been damaged. I'm trying to get it replaced but not much luck from local plumbers, so I may have to do it myself. With so many angles, it looks a bit tricky. Any advice on how to go about it?

Do I need to unscrew the stiff nut just below the WC or can I just cut the end of the vertical pipe just before the first elbow?

So as to prevent further accidents in the future, is there a more flexible thing such as a large piece of compatible hosepipe that I could fit and secure with a clip around the start of the upvc pipe?

Many thanks.

Replace your toilet siphon with one that allows internal overflow, such as a Dudley Turbo. You can then cap off the external overflow arrangement in the cistern and do away with the external pipe altogether

I've got an old cream WC, etc, possibly from the 70's so I'm not too sure the Dudley Turbo will be compatible? How easy would it be for a beginner (me) to install the system and how would I cap the existing overflow?

Pretty sure the Turbo 88 is adjustable for height and just cut the pipe flush to the wall and stuff it with silicone.

Work as above but I personally would fit a Flapper valve simple to operate and fit unlikely to go wrong, and the white centre pipe is the internal overflow, water will run into pan to indicate its overfilling so the filling valve can be adjusted.
