Hi,

I had a preformed fire door fitted in my loft and as all the other doors in the house are stripped solid pine, I'm looking for a way to give this door a wood aspect.

The door has a white finish which imitates wood grain.

I've trying to apply coloured wax to it but it doesn't stick very well and the result doesn't look too good.

Would anybody be able to recommend a brand of wax or other finish that would give a reasonably good wood aspect?

Regards

Id say you could give the door a coat of buff coloured underoat and then a coat of coloured woodstain...

Or buy a tin of paint and grain if its still available in the shop.

Yuo need a base colour, staining or waxing over the semi white finish wont work...dispite what they tell you when you buy the door

Whatever you do get the wax off first
