We've installed rockwool into our ceiling, as shown in picture below.
This has been installed so that it fills the existing cavity (full length of existing joists) from the bottom of the floorboards above to where the plasterboard ceiling in the room pictured used to be.
However, we've also realigned the hot water tank /central heating pipes so that they don't run through any of the existing joists - i.e. the pipes now run underneath the existing joists, lagged with foam.
What this has meant is that we've had to run new timber straps at right angles to the existing joists, with the bottom of these new joists holding the new plasterboard ceiling.
What can we use to hold up the rockwool to stop it from falling - is there a thin metal strap that would run from joist to joist that we can use to do this? If not a metal strap, what product would be best?
