Hygena Dishwasher only works when door is open

I have a Hygena dishwasher which only seems to work when the door opens, i load the dishwasher, add the tablet, shut the door and turn the dial but nothing happens, the dishwasher only seems to start working when i open the door.
any clues ?

Broken wiring in the door. Especially where it bends around bottom of door to enter the base.
